Providence, RI - The Brown women's track & field team gave a solid effort during its final home meet at Brown Stadium this season. The Bears earned five titles, as junior Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) picked up two, freshman Eliza Webber (Stoddard, NH), and Brown's 4x400m relay team led the way for Bruno.
Once again, Grunloh gave an outstanding effort for the Bears, as she picked up both the shot put and discus throw titles. Grunloh tossed a 50-08.00 in the shot put, and followed it up with a 155-01 in the discus throw dominating her competition. Sophomore Brynn Smith (Saco, ME) followed Grunloh in the shot put with a 49-03.75 for second place. Smith also tallied a 180-04 in the hammer throw for second place, as teammates Molly Hawksley (Rumford, RI) and Lissa Mazanec earned fifth and eighth place finishes, respectively.
The Bears' 4x400 relay squad of sophomore Lucy Higgins (Jeffersonville, VT), sophomore Samantha Adelberg (Washington, DC), senior Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) and Roseanne Fleming (Westlake Village, CA) finished with a stellar time of 3:56.37 to win the event, as Brown's "B" relay team earned second place with 4:02.02.
Webber earned the 3,000m run title with a solid 10:12.99, crossing the finish line nearly 10 seconds faster then second place finisher Emma Perron from Providence College. Sophomore Megan Fitzpatrick (Hopewell Valley, NJ) followed with a fourth-place finish, turning in a 10:42.51.
Junior Shannon Stone (Mont Vernon, NH) and sophomore Rachel Biblo (Thiensville, WI) earned second and third place finishes, respectively, in the triple jump, as Stone posted a 38-01.50, followed by Biblo's 36-01.50.
Sophomore Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ) earned fourth place in the 1,500m run with a 4:27.70, and Higgins picked up fourth in the 400m dash with a 58.12. Higgins also earned a fifth place finish in the 200m dash, turning in a 25.87.
A few Bears also competed in the Penn Relays over the weekend. Brown's distance medley relay of Ramsey, Burns, Fleming and sophomore Michaeline Nelson (McLean, VA) earned eighth with an 11:51.50, and Biblo took 30th in the long jump with a 15-6.25.
