Lynch Wins Heps Shot Put Title

Hanover, NH - The Brown women's track team placed sixth with 48 points at the 2003 Heptagonal Championships at Dartmouth. Cornell took the crown with 114 points. Yale finished second with 99 points followed by Harvard, Princeton and Dartmouth with 73, 66, and 51 points respectively. Sophomore Jill Lynch (Racine, WI) took first in the shot put with a throw of 13.82 meters.
Freshman Brittany Grovey (Hobbs, NM) placed second in the triple jump with a jump of 12.43 meters. The 4x400 meter relay squad of junior Melissa Tremblay (Salem, MA), junior Julia Stevenson (Detroit, MI), freshman Kelly Powell (East Patchogue, NY) and senior Keely Tharp (Roberts, WI) placed second with a time of 3:50.44 in the seeded race.
Stevenson took third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.14. Senior Lauren Contursi (Flemington, NJ) placed third in the pole vault, clearing 3.82 meters. Sophomore Jaylon White (Minneapolis, MN) took fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.87 and junior Rachelle Seibolt (Manchester, NH) also placed fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 15.51 meters.
