Women's Track and Field Competes at USATF-NE Championships

Cambridge, MA- A limited women's track and field squad headed to Harvard on February 22 to compete in the USATF-NE Championships. The competitors looked to improve their seeds for the upcoming Heptagonal Championships.
The shot putters had a strong day, with junior Jill Lynch (Racine, WI) throwing to a season best of 44'9.5. Freshmen Laura Dudek (West Warren, MA) PR'd by 1.5 feet while Grace Cunningham (Pembroke, MA) had her collegiate debut after coming back from a hand injury. All three rank in the Top 15 in the league.
The sprinters turned in fast times in the 60m dash. Co-captain Julia Stevenson '04 (Bowie, MD) and Jaylon White '05 (Minneapolis, MN) moved up in the league rankings with their times. Senior Emily McElveen (Chapel Hill, NC) also improved her seed in the 200m. Fara Kitton '05 (Bellmore, NY) took a key win in the hurdles against a Harvard rival.
Seniors Katherine Kosub (San Antonio, TX), Caci Cambruzzi (Cincinnati, OH), and Kate Cushing (Cranston, RI) all turned in solid performances in the 800m. Cushing demonstrated her strength with a double in the mile run and 800m with only an hour and a half rest in between.
The team competes next at the Heptagonal Championships in Ithaca, NY at Cornell. The meet will span from February 27-29.
