Hanover, NH - The Brown women's track & field team earned first place at the Dartmouth Invitational at the Leverone Field House on Saturday with a total of 208 points. Following the Bears was Dartmouth College in second (144), New Hampshire (100), University of Vermont (48) and Quinnipiac University in fifth with 23 points.
Sophomore Thelma Breezeatl (Manassas, VA) locked up first place in the 60-meter dash (7.58), as junior Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) followed right behind in second (7.68). Burns then placed first in the 200m (24.89), as Breezeatl came in right behind in second (25.11).
Sophomore Jasmin Chukwueke (San Diego, CA) tallied a first-place finish in the 400m (58.39), and freshman Samantha Adelberg (Washington, DC) took first in the 500 with a 1:15.45. Earning first in the 800m was freshman Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ) with a 2:14.57, as senior Smita Gupta (Tulsa, OK) owned the 1,000m with a 2:53.78.
In the 3,000, sophomore Ariel Wright (Oakland, CA) finished in first (9.48.43), and Brown's 1,600m and 3,200m relay teams each earned first with a 3:52.47 and a 9:15.66, respectively.
Senior Akilah King (Medford, MA) posted a 18-05.25 in the long jump to earn first, while freshman Rachel Biblo (Thiensville, WI) came in second with a 17-11.50. Sophomore Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) took first in the shot put (45-06.50), as teammate Brynn Smith (Sace, ME) took fourth (35-09.50).
Also turning in great performances was freshman Lucy Higgins with a fourth-place finish in the 200m (26.12), freshman Michaeline Nelson (McLean, VA) with a 1:20.70 in the 500m for fourth, and freshman Caitlin Clark (Granite Bay, CA) with a third place finish in the 1,000m (2:57.71).
Junior Dianna Anderson (Verona, NJ) placed second in the 60m hurdles (8.92), and freshman Anna Cook (Burlington, NJ) earned second in the high jump (5-04.25) and Natasha Smith (Gloucester, MA) earned third (5-04.25).
Senior Keely Marsh (Annandale, NJ) placed fourth in the pole vault (11-00.25), and Brooke Staton (Owings Mills, MD) took third in the triple jump (36-02.75), followed by Shannon Stone (Mont Vernon, NH) in fourth (35-09.50).
The Bears will compete in the New England Championships on Sunday, Feb. 24 in Cambridge, MA.
