Women's Track & Field Compete at Valentine Invitational

Boston, MA - The Brown women's track and field team compete at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Friday afternoon. Seven of the Bears' runners, including a relay team, finished in the top three or higher in their events. Brown junior Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) brought home her squads only first-place performance in the 400-meter dash with a 55.01.
Sophomore Thelma Breezeatl (Manassas, VA) placed second in the 55m dash (7.08), and third in the 200m (24.78). Senior Akilah King (Medford, MA) finished right behind in the 200m with a 24.80 for fourth place.
Also performing well this afternoon was freshman Samantha Adelberg (Washington, DC) with a 2:11.98 in the 800m, while senior Smita Gupta (Tulsa, OK) finished the 3,000m race in fourth with a 9:30.28. Sophomore Ariel Wright (Oakland, CA) posted third in the 5,000m (16:49.41), and Brown "A" came in second in the 1,600m relay with a 3:45.19.
Freshman Rachel Biblo (Thiensville, WI) also recorded a third-place finish in the long jump, leaping a 17-10.75, and sophomore Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) earned fourth in the shot put with a 44-02.00.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, New Hampshire.
