Feb. 6, 2005

New York City, NY - Six of Brown's top track and field athletes traveled to New York this weekend to compete in the New Balance Armory Invitational. A highly competitive meet, the invite allowed the Bears to be tested against the top of the NCAA.

Senior co-captain Patrick Tarpy (Yarmouth, ME) continued his success, as he took fourth in the mile race. His time of 4:04.5 ranks him third all-time for Brown. In addition, it provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Championships, an honor he has already earned in the 3,000-meter run.

Junior Brittany Grovey (Hobbs, NM) won her flight of the triple jump with a top mark of 39'11". Senior Dominique Bosa-Edwards (Las Vegas, NV) was fifth in the event with a jump of 37'9.25", which moves her to fourth all-time for Brown.

Sophomore Grant Bowen (Plainwell, MI) was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 14'9". Sophomore Naja Ferjan (Ljubljana, Slovenia) took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.99.

The Bears return to action this weekend at the Fast Track and Valentine's Invitationals, both hosted by Boston University.
