Providence, RI - The Brown women's track & field team competed at the Giegengack Invitational, hosted at Coxe Cage, on Saturday afternoon. The Bears had many strong performances from their runners, as the squad gets ready for the Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Saturday, February 9th.
The Bears locked up fourth, fifth and sixth place in the 200-meter dash, with Thelma Breezeatl (Manassas, VA) crossing the line in 25.07, followed by Akilah King (Medford, MA) with a 25.12, and Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) in sixth with a 25.12. Breezeatl also earned third in the 60m dash as well.
Junior Dianna Anderson came in fifth in the 60m hurdles, and Lucy Higgins (Jeffersonville, VT) crossed the line 5:11.37 in the one mile run for 10th, and also posted a fifth-place finish in the 400m (57.59).
Brown secured both fourth and fifth place finishes in the 1,000m run, as Caitlin Clark (Granite Bay, CA) earned a 2:58.43, followed by Kesley Ramsey (2:59.23). Samantha Adelberg (Washington, D.C.) earned third in the 500m (1:15.74), and the 1,600 relay squad, Brown "A" finished in third with a 3:47.76.
`In the field events, Brown's Tiffany Chang (Lafayette, CA) captured first place with a 11-09.75 in the pole vault , and Brynn Smith (Sace, ME) had a stellar second place finish in the shot put with a 45-05.25. In the high jump, freshman Grace Watson (Belmont, MA) earned third (5-07.00) and Bruno's King took fifth in the long jump (17-10.75).
