Women’s Track & Field Finishes Sixth at Ivy Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. – O'Sha Williams (Jamaica, N.Y.) claimed an individual title and added a runner-up finish as the Brown women's track & field team placed sixth at the Ivy League Outdoor Track & Field Championship Sunday at Princeton's Weaver Stadium.

Harvard won the event with 160 points, followed by Princeton (139), Cornell (107), Columbia (85), Dartmouth (81), Brown (51), Penn (47) and Yale (12).

On Saturday, Williams captured the individual title in the long jump with a winning mark of 18-10.00 on her final jump, besting her fifth seed heading into the weekend. Rachel McMahon and Shanelle DeJournett (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished 7-8 at 18-00.25 and 17-11.50. 

Williams also added a silver medal in the triple jump on Sunday, as she equaled her personal best leap of 41-10.50. Chelsie Churchill (Mission Viejo, Calif.) was fifth in the event at 38-09.75.

"O'Sha had a great weekend, not only with her performances but with the leadership she always provides," said head coach Tim Springfield. 

Rookie Jenell Grier-Spratley (Alexandria, Va.) was runner-up in the high jump with a cleared height of 5-07.25, while DeJournett was sixth at 5-06.00.

Sophomore Michelle Bazile (Princeton, N.J.) was second in the hammer throw on Saturday with a toss of 173-11 for sixth-best in program history. Maxine Offiaeli (South Windsor, Conn.) was a finalist in eighth place at 158-07. Bazille and Offiaeli went 6-7 in the shot put at 42-08.00 and 41-09.25, respectively.

In her first time running the 10,000 meters, sophomore Megan Ratcliffe (Carlisle, Mass.) turned in a fourth-place finish with a time of 35:00.88 for fourth all-time at Brown. On Sunday, Taylor Worthy (Medfield, Mass.) was fifth in the 800 meters in a time of 2:11.81.

The 4x800 meter relay team of Alexis Van Pernis (Kailua Kona, Hawaii), Clare Peabody (Aptos, Calif.), Jeanine Noordam (San Jose, Calif.) and Worthy placed third at 8:47.57.

Peabody was seventh in the 1,500 meters on Sunday with a time of 4:26.40, while Audrey Holt (Alpharetta, Ga.) reached the finals of both the 100 and 200 meters.
