RALEIGH, N.C. – Senior O'Sha Williams (Jamaica, N.Y.) won the triple jump and four others posted top-10 all-time program finishes as the Brown men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Raleigh Relays over the weekend at NC State.
Williams captured first place in the triple jump on Saturday as she topped the field of 40 with a leap of 40-07.00. She won the Ivy League title in the event at the indoor championships this past winter.
Rookie Owen Russell (Attleboro, Mass.) placed seventh overall and fifth among collegiate athletes in the weight throw, his first time with the 16-pound college implement, with a toss of 196-11. Russell's throw was the fifth-best all-time at Brown.
Senior Will Sheeran (Seattle, Wash.) placed 12th overall in the 5,000 meters, made up of both collegiate and professional runners, as he finished in a time of 14:01.07. He was fifth among college runners and posted the fourth-best time in program history.
Junior Shanelle DeJournett (Knoxville, Tenn.) turned in a fourth-place finish in the invitational high jump with a cleared height of 5-08.75, tied for sixth all-time at Brown.
Rookie Carleen Jeffers (Ridegewood, N.J.) was 13th in the 5K in a time of 16:40.93 for seventh all-time at Brown.
In addition, Ryan Kelly (Greenwich, Conn.) was 10th in the finals of the 400 meters at 47.96, while Emmaline Suchland (Seattle, Wash.) took 14th in the 100 meters at 11.94.
