Women’s Track & Field Tied for Third After Day One of Ivy Championship
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Brown University women's track & field team is currently in third place with 19 points after the first day of the Ivy League Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Yale University.
Princeton is currently in first place with 42 points, followed by Columbia (21), Brown 19), Harvard (19), Cornell (17), Penn (16), Dartmouth (14) and Yale (7).
Brown placed three in the javelin, led by senior Holleigh Bergstrom (Eugene, Ore.) in second at 150-03, while rookie Ellie Gravitte (Ridgefield, Conn.) took fourth and 148-00 and senior Niina Al-Hassan (Secaucus, N.J.) was sixth at 144-01.
Junior Heather Vermillion (Visalia, Calif.) earned a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 187-09.
Brown had a pair of runners qualify for Sunday's finals after the preliminary round as Rachel Van Metre (Swarthmore, Pa.) moved on in the 100-meter hurdles and Alex Stanton (Medfield, Mass.) in the 400-meter hurdles.
