PHILADELPHIA – Senior Heidi Caldwell (Hanover, N.H.) broke the school record in the 3,000 meters as the Brown track & field team competed in opening day of the prestigious Penn Relays on Thursday at Franklin Field.
Caldwell finished seventh overall in the women's 3,000 meters championship, crossing the finish line in a record-breaking time of 9:23.31.
Sophomore Lily Harrington (West Hartford, Conn.) also competed in the 3,000 meters, placing 20th in a time of 9:46.54. Junior Leah Eickhoff (Hanover, N.H.) took 14th in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase championships, crossing in a time of 10:47.79. Senior Katharine Grimes (Chatham, N.J.) was third in the College Division of the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing at 10:51.67.
The Bears return for the second day of the Penn Relays on Friday at Franklin Field.
