Four Former Brown Track & Field Standouts headed to U.S. Olympic Trials
Providence, RI- Former Brown University track & field standouts Anna Pierce ’06, Bryan Powlen ’10, Craig Kinsley ’10, and Dan Lowry ’12 will compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 21-25 and June 28-July at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.

Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced
Providence, RI – The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2012 spring Academic All-Ivy, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five females and five males were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Berg & Mickle Compete at Track & Field NCAA Championships
Des Moines, IA- Junior Erik Berg (Seattle, WA) and junior Olivia Mickle (Sacramento, CA) finished their season yesterday evening at the 2012 Outdoor Track & Field NCAA Championships hosted at Drake University. Senior Dan Lowry, Brown’s only competitor left, will compete in the 5,000m final on Friday, June 8.

Bears Qualify Three to NCAA Championships in Des Moines
Jacksonville, Fla. – After competing at the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla., Brown University's Olivia Mickle (Sacramento, CA), Dan Lowry (Plymouth Meeting, PA) and Erik Berg (Seattle, WA) qualified for the NCAA Championships hosted at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa June 6-9.

Track & Field Recognizes Student-Athletes at Awards Ceremony
Providence, RI- Members of the Brown University track & field teams were honored at its 2011-12 awards banquet last week. Sophomore John Spooney, senior Dan Lowry and junior Lacey Craker were named team MVP's, while junior Olivia Mickle earned the team's Most Improved Award. Rookies Lauren Waterbury, InSoo Hwang and Peter Rhodes also earned Freshman of the Year honors.

Women’s Track & Field Earns Fifth at Heptagonal Championships
Ithaca, NY- The Brown women's track & field team finished fifth overall with 57 points at the 2012 Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Cornell this weekend. The Bears had four individuals earn All-Ivy accolades, including one First Team All-Ivy honoree, Heidi Caldwell, who captured the 5,000m run title. Columbia earned the team title with 124 points, followed by Cornell (103), Dartmouth (73), and Harvard (65).

Bears Earn Team Championship at Joe Donahue Collegiate Indoor Games
Boston, MA – The Brown women’s track & field team captured the team title with 118.33 points at the Joe Donahue Collegiate Indoor Games hosted at Northeastern’s Reggie Lewis Center. Highlighting the meet was 22 scoring performances, six event champions, five scorers in the 3,000m and three scorers in the 55m hurdles.

Women’s Track & Field Competes at URI Sorlein Invitational
Kingston, RI- The Brown University women’s track & field team competed in just their second meet of the indoor season yesterday at the URI Sorlien Invitational. The Bears, who have not competed since the Alden Invitational on Dec. 3, had many solid performances at the meet, including titles in the 60m hurdles, pole vault and the 4x400m relay, as well as top three individual finishes in the weight throw, shot put, long jump, triple jump and 60m dash.

Mitchell Baker Named Head Women's Cross Country Coach/Assistant Track & Field
Mitchell Baker joins the Brown staff as Head Coach of Women’s Cross Country and Assistant Coach of Track and Field in charge of women’s middle and long distance events. Prior to arriving on College Hill, Baker spent four years as an assistant coach at Williams College in Massachusetts, serving first as a cross country assistant and then four years as the primary event coach for the men and women competing in the middle distances.

Track & Field Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Brown University men's and women's track & field teams both earned 2011 Division I All-Academic Honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), awarded to teams with a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better in the spring of 2011. The women's team tied for 12th out of 164 teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.42, the men's team tied for 22nd out of 90 teams with a 3.23 GPA.
