Brown Track & Field Set for NCAA Championship East Preliminary Round

Greensboro, NC- Twelve members of the Brown University track and field team have qualified for the NCAA Championships East Preliminary Round, as the field was announced Friday by the NCAA.   Five men and seven women will represent Brown in Greensboro, N.C.  North Carolina A&T will play host to the top athletes east of the Mississippi River May 27-29.
 
The following Bears are set to compete next weekend in Greensboro:  
 
Men
Bryan Powlen – Discus
Jordan Maddocks – High Jump
Reggie Cole – Triple Jump
Craig Kinsley - Javelin
Duriel Hardy – 10,000m
 
Women
Anja Hergrueter – High Jump
Gabriela Baiter – Triple Jump
Danielle Grunloh – Shot Put & Discus
Brynn Smith – Shot Put & Hammer Throw
Samantha Adelberg – 800m
Ariel Wright – 5,000m
Lauren Pischel – 10,000m
 
The field for the Preliminary Round was determined based on times/marks recorded throughout the season with the top 48 athletes in each event in both the East and West regions qualifying for the opening round of the NCAA Championships.  Top qualifying times from both the East and West preliminaries (running this weekend in Austin, Texas) will compete June 9-12 at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The top 12 finishers in each event will advance on to the NCAA Championships.
