Womens Track & Field Ranked Seventh In Northeast Region
Providence, RI- The USTFCCCA has recently ranked the Brown University women's track & field team seventh in the Northeast Region. The Bears, who are coming off a ranking of sixth last week, have had some very strong performances leading up to this point which certainly gives the squad a reason to be excited for its upcoming meets. The Bears are currently preparing for the 2010 Outdoor Ivy League Heptagonal Championships hosted at Princeton May 8-9.
Junior Brynn Smith (hammer throw), senior Danielle Grunloh (discus) and senior Ariel Wright (5,000m) have already broken the school record in their respective events and nine women have hit ECAC qualifying marks.
This year, NCAA qualification will be determined at two regional competition sites (East and West). The top 48 performances will be accepted into the regional meet off a descending order list. The top 12 performances from each regional meet will then advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
