Princeton, NJ- In Brown's final meet before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, the Brown women's track & field team brought home three titles from the Princeton Elite meet this weekend. Senior Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) won both the shot put and discus titles, and junior Brynn Smith (Saco, ME) won the hammer throw.
Grunloh garnered the shot put title with a toss of 50-00.50, and Smith followed just behind with a second place throw of 46-11.75. In fourth place was freshman teammate Victoria Buhr (Cheboygan, MI), who posted a throw of 44-02.75. Grunloh won the discus title with a throw of 144-10, and freshman teammate Lacy Craker (Baraboo, WI) was just behind in the discus with a second place throw of 144-02, and Buhr earned third place with a 139-03.
Smith earned the hammer throw title with a dominating throw of 189-06, and Craker finished in third place with a 171-11.
Shannon Stone posted an 18-03.75 in the long jump for third place, and Rachel Biblo recorded a 13-04.25 for 10th place. Gabriela Baiter earned second place in the triple jump with a 39-03.75 and Stone finished fourth with a 38-1.75.
Anja Hergrueter (Newton, MA) turned in a second place high jump mark of 5-07.00 and junior Grace Watson (Belmont, MA) followed with a fourth place height of 5-03.75. Freshman Hannah Wallce (Whitefish Bay, WI) finished in third in the pole vault with a 10-11.75.
In the running events, Brown sophomore Susan Scavone (Summit, NJ) earned third place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.50 seconds, and teammate Chelsea Walters (Plainsboro, NJ) finished the face in 15.29 seconds to place eighth overall. Junior Jasmine Chukwueke (San Diego, A) earned fifth place in the 200m dash with a time of 25.15 seconds, and junior Brielle Beaudette (Agawam, MA) followed in ninth place with a 25.62.
The Bears will now prepare for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship hosted at Princeton May 8-9.
