Women’s Track  & Field Hosts Brown Springtime Invitational

Providence, RI- The Brown University women's track & field team had many strong performances today during the Brown Springtime Invitational held at Brown Stadium. Senior Danielle Grunloh had a solid day for Bruno as she won both the shot put and discus titles this afternoon.

In the running events, Jasmine Chukwueke ran the 200m dash in 25.52 seconds for third place, and Brielle Beaudette crossed the line in 25.84 seconds to finish in sixth place. In the 400m dash, Lucy Higgins finished in third with a time of 57.53 seconds and Beaudette posted a time of 57.86 seconds to earn fourth place.

Adelberg garnered the 800m run title with a solid time of 2:08.90, and teammate Bree Shugarts finished right behind with a 2:11.06 for second place. Also running a strong race was Rosie Fleming, who finished fourth overall with a 2:12.97.

Kesley Ramsey finished third in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:29.57. and Ariel Wright came in right behind with a 4:30.38 for fourth place. Earning the 3,000m run title was Megan Fitzpatrick with a 9:55.72, and Angela Rugino came in third (10:24.57) and Brianna Rogers in fourth (10:29.34).

Lauren Pischel led the 5,000m run with a first place time of 16:41.03, as Ari Garber came in second with a 17:12.01. Also running a great race this afternoon was Susan Scavone, who earned the 100m hurdles title in 14.29 seconds, and Brown's 4x400m relay team comprised of Shannon Stacey, Tess Plant-Thomas, Carolyn Ranti and Emily Mepham came in first with a 4:00.30.

In the field, Hannah Wallace secured the pole vault title with a 3.65m mark, and Shannon Stone earned the long jump title with a 5.34m leap. Anja Hergrueter came in second place in the high jump (1.65m) and Rachel Biblo earned second in the long jump with a 5.27m leap.

Gabriela Baiter won the triple jump (11.93m) and Biblo came in second (11.66m) and Stone in third (11.43m). Senior Danielle Grunloh won the shot put with a toss of 15.93m, and Brynn Smith finished with a 15.55m toss for second place. Grunloh also had an outstanding day in the discus throw, earning first with a 49.98m throw, followed by Victoria Buhr's second place toss of 43.36m and Lacey Craker in third with a 42.11m throw.

Smith won the hammer throw with a 57.77m mark, and Craker earned fourth place with a 51.48m throw. Earning fourth in the javelin was senior Katherine Wood (35.81m) and following in seventh was Elizabeth Peterson (31.35m).
