Storrs, Conn. – The Brown women's track & field team had some great performances at the UConn Invitational this weekend. The Bears placed second overall with 48 total points, behind first place finishers UConn with 115 points.
Danielle Grunloh brought home the shot put title with a NCAA qualifying mark of 49-09.00m throw, while junior teammate Brynn Smith finished in fourth with a mark of 44-11.00. Also competing in the event was Victoria Buhr, who finish seventh overall with a 41-03.00 and Natasha Smith posted a 39-11.25 for ninth place.
Grunloh also won the discus title with a NCAA qualifying mark of 163-07, and Buhr earned a fourth place score of 148-07. Lacey Craker tossed a 130-07 for sixth place.
In the hammer throw, Smith won the title with a 192-04 and Craker posted a 164-09 for fifth place. Katherine Wood finished in fifth place in the javelin throw with a 131-05, and Elizabeth Peterson came in 10th with a 113-10. Rachel Biblo posted a fourth-place score of 17-11.00 in the long jump, and senior Anja Hergrueter placed second in the high jump with a 5-08.50.
Gabriella Baiter earned first place in the triple jump with a 40-07.75, and teammate Shannon Stone followed in second place with a 38-05.00 and Rachel Biblo came in third with a 38-01.50.
Susan Scavone won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.76 seconds, and teammate Chelsea Walters earned third place with a time of 15.06. In the 400m dash, Jasmine Chukwueke placed third with a time of 56.88 and Thelma Breezeatl came in eighth with a 1:00.11.
Lucy Higgins posted a time of 2:12.65 in the 800m run for third place, and Chukwueke earned 10th in the 200m dash with a 26.50. Also, Brown's 4x400m relay team came in fourth place with a 3:59.60.
