Womens Track & Field Earns Fifth at Heps
Hanover, NH- The Brown University women’s track &
field team finished in fifth place with 55 points during the 2010
Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championship hosted at Dartmouth
College this weekend. Princeton earned the title with 125 points,
followed by Columbia (110), Cornell (96), Harvard (61), Brown, Penn
(48), Yale (16) and Dartmouth (16).
The Bears had a lot of solid scores and results to be proud of
today. Earning Brown’s highest finish of the day was freshman
Gabriela Baiter, who earned third place in the triple jump with a
12.03m leap. Following right behind was senior Shannon Stone with
an 11.88m jump for sixth place.
Brown junior Kesley Ramsey did a great job in the one-mile run,
earning fourth place with a time of 4:55.32, as did junior Jasmine
Chukwueke in the 400m dash with a time of 56.64 seconds.
Also doing a great job for the Bears was senior Ariel Wright, who
earned fourth place in the 3k with a 9:35.51. Sophomore Susan
Scavone recorded fifth place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.95
seconds, and Brown’s relay teams also had good
performances.
The Bears’ 4x400m relay team comprised of Higgins, junior
Samanth Adelberg, junior Brielle Beaudette and Chukwueke crossed
the line in 3:49.41 for fourth place, and Brown’s 4x800 relay
of Rosie Fleming, junior Megan Fitzpatrick, Ramsey and freshman
Bree Shugarts recorded a 9:01.51 for sixth place.
