Kendra Reimer Joins Brown University Track & Field Staff
Providence, RI- After two highly successful seasons working with Cal State L.A.’s track and field programs, Kendra Reimer begins her first season with Brown University. She specializes in coaching the multi-events, throws and the pole vault.
“I am really excited to have this opportunity to be a part of
Brown University. I have a great group of student-athletes to work
with and I am a joining an elite coaching staff. I’m looking
forward to continuing the great jumps tradition here at Brown and
further building on their success.
A 2009 Division II USTFCCCA West Regional Assistant Coach of the
Year, Reimer has helped her athletes garnish many accolades during
her three years at Cal State L.A. She coached a 2007 & 2008
USTFCCCA West Region Field Athlete of the Year, 2008 CCAA Athlete
of the Year, 2008 CCAA Newcomer of the Year, and a 2009 CCAA
Freshman of the Year. She coached nine All-Americans, two Academic
All-Americans, 10 CCAA event champions, 34 All-Conference
performers, 21 NCAA qualifiers, 16 NCAA Provisional Marks and 1 USA
Championships Qualifier. Her athletes have also cracked into
LA’s All-Time Top 10 Outdoor performances over 21 times in 11
different events.
In 2008, she helped Desi Burt earn All-America honors in the
decathlon with a third-place national finish. He also earned
All-America honors in the high jump after finishing fourth. The
Golden Eagles had three student-athletes (Burt, Julian Gonzales and
Josh Linker) post NCAA qualifying marks in the decathlon. Burt also
was named the CCAA Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Year
and was named the NCAA Division II West Region Field Athlete of the
Year for a second straight season.
In her first season at Cal State L.A. in 2007, she helped Burt earn
the NCAA Division II West Region Athlete of the Year Award in the
field events. Burt qualified for the NCAA Championships in the
decathlon and high jump and won California Collegiate Athletic
Association titles in three events: the high jump, long jump and
the 110 hurdles.
Reimer competed at Texas A&M University and was a top performer
in the heptathlon. She earned All-America honors and All-Conference
recognition. She later moved to Southern California to train for
the 2004 Olympic Trials, where she placed 11th in the
heptathlon.
She had a national high-school record in the heptathlon at New
Braunfels High School and was the runner-up for the 1998 High
School Athlete of the Year behind Angela Williams. She was a Junior
National Champion in 1998 and placed seventh at the World Junior
Track and Field Championships.
