Falconi Finishes in Second of Flight

The Brown women's tennis team competed at the 2003 USTA National Tennis Center Women's College Tennis Invitational from October 11-13. Sophomore Stephanie Falconi (New York, NY) led the Bears, taking second in Flight "A" singles competition.

En route to her second place finish, Falconi defeated several ranked opponents, including sixth-seeded Maaria Husain of Penn State in her first match, 7-5, 6-3. She won her next two matches in straight sets, defeating Sally McNally of Dartmouth, 6-1, 6-3 and Molly Condit of Columbia, 6-0, 6-2. In the semi-finals, Falconi defeated Dinka Hadzic of Washington, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7, before dropping a 6-1, 6-4 to second-seeded Aibika Kalsarieva of Kentucky. With the wins, she is currently 7-1 this fall in singles competition.

The Bears continue action on Friday, October 24, 2003 at the ITA Championships, which will be held at Virginia Tech.
