The Brown women's tennis team competed at the Volkl Shootout, hosted by Dartmouth, on Friday afternoon, and came away with promising results.
In their first match against UConn, the Bears came away with six singles wins, with five of the six Bears winning in straight sets. Winners for Brown included, sophomore Stephanie Falconi (New York, NY) at #1 (6-0, 6-2), junior Kerry Meath (St. Paul, MN) at #2 (7-5, 6-1), freshman Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) at #3 (6-4, 2-6, 6-2), junior Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) at #4 (6-4, 6-1), freshman Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) at #5 (6-3, 6-2), and freshman Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) at #6 (6-4, 6-0).
Next, the Bears faced Colgate and won three of the six singles matches. Again, Falconi won at #1 (6-0, 6-1), Meath at #2 (6-1, 6-1), and Arlak at #4 (6-1, 6-1). In their final competition of the day on Friday, Brown and Dartmouth squared off in doubles competition, with Brown winning two of the three matches. Winning for Brown was the team of senior Victoria Beck (Wellington, New Zealand) and Falconi at #1 (8-2), and the team of Pautler and Arlak at #3 (8-6).
Brown continues action at the Shootout on Saturday, facing BU in singles and doubles, and UConn in doubles.
