PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown women's tennis sophomore Bianca Aboubakare (Orange, CA) and freshman Cassandra Herzberg (Miami Beach, FL) have earned All-Ivy honors in a vote by the League's eight coaches. Aboubakare was named First Team All-Ivy in both singles and doubles for the second straight year, while Herzberg earned First Team All-Ivy honors in doubles with Aboubakare and was also named Second Team All-Ivy in singles.
Aboubakare had the second-highest singles win total on the team, accumulating a 24-11 overall record and a 15-6 mark in dual matches, all at #1 singles. She was 4-3 in Ivy League matches. Overall, her 24 singles wins ranks 12th all-time at Brown for wins in a season, while her 48 combined wins, a team high, is tied for fourth all-time. Aboubakare also picked up 24 total doubles wins, a team high, which ranks third all-time at Brown for doubles wins in a season. In just two years, Aboubakare already has 52 singles wins, 10th all-time at Brown, 44 doubles wins, 13th all-time at Brown, and 96 combined wins, 10th all-time at Brown.
Herzberg made an immediate impact on the team, leading the Bears with 26 total singles wins, a mark that is fifth all-time at Brown, as she went 26-5, including a 15-3 mark at the #2 position. Herzberg was also 6-1 in Ivy League matches, all at #2, and posted a 2-0 record at #1 singles. In doubles action, Herzberg was tied for second on the team with 22 wins, fourth all-time at Brown, as she was 22-7. Her 48 total wins matched Aboubakare's 48 total wins for a team high and a mark that stands fourth all-time at Brown.
In doubles action, Aboubakare and Herzberg were a combined 12-2, all at the #1 position, including a 5-2 record in the Ivy League. They were ranked as high as 67th in the country in mid April and currently rank 77th.
