Bears Defeat Cornell, 4-3, Earning First Ivy Win

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's tennis team improved to 10-6 on the season and to 1-2 in the Ivy League on Friday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over Cornell. Depite losing the doubles point, the Bears battled back in singles action, taking the top four matches, including three in three sets, to earn the win, their first Ivy victory of the season.

Sophomore Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) led the way at #1 singles, winning, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. Sophomore Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) moved from her normal spot and #3 singles to play at #2, and earned a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win. Senior Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) posted a three-set win at #3 singles, 6-4, 5-7, 6-0, while freshman Anita Ivancevic (Delray Beach, FL) posted a 6-4, 6-4 win at #4.

The Bears continue action on Saturday, April 16, when they host Columbia at 12:00 noon.
