Bears Drop Close 5-2 Match to Princeton

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's tennis team (8-8, 0-2) dropped a heart-breaking 5-2 decision to visiting Princeton on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers claimed the doubles point for a 1-0 lead and then won four of the six singles matches, all in three sets, to edge the Bears in a match that could have gone either way.

In doubles action, it was freshman Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) and senior Victoria Beck (Wellington, New Zealand) claiming an 8-4 win at #2.

Beck and Pautler each won their respective singles matches for Brown, as Beck earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at #3, while Pautler picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at #6 singles.

Junior Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ), at #1, junior Kerry Meath (St. Paul, MN), at #2, freshman Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL), at #4, and freshman Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA), at #5, all pushed their matches to three sets, with Arlak, Meath, and Saiontz losing by just two points.

Brown continues action on Friday, April 16, when it travels to New York to take on Columbia at 2:00 p.m.
