PRINCETON, NJ - The 61st-ranked Brown women's tennis team (16-3, 2-1) saw its 12-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling to #47 Princeton, 6-1, its first Ivy League loss of the season. The Bears won the doubles point, taking matches at #1 and #3 doubles, but failed to win any of the six singles matches.
Princeton was off the court first in doubles with a win at #2, but Brown won the next two to take the doubles point. Juniors Emily Ellis (Ft. Worth, TX) and Kathrin Sorokko (Douglaston, NY) tied doubles at 1-1 with an 8-3 win at #3 and then sophomore Bianca Aboubakare (Orange, CA) and freshman Cassandra Herzberg (Miami Beach, FL) clinched the point with an 8-6 win at #1. With the win, they remain undefeated in doubles, at 10-0, all at the #1 position. In addition, Ellis and Sorokko are now two wins away from tying the Brown record for doubles wins in a season by a single team.
