#38 Florida International Cruises Past Bears, 6-1

Miami, FL - The Brown women's tennis team (4-8) dropped its final non-league match of the year, falling to #38 Florida International, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Panthers won the doubles point, taking all three matches by identical 8-2 scores. The Bears fell in straight sets at #2, #3, #5, and #6 singles. Junior Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) forced a third set at #1 against her opponent, ranked #104 in the country, dropping a third-set tiebreaker, 10-6, after winning 7-5 in the second set.

Brown's lone win came at #4 singles, where freshman Brett Finkelstein (North Caldwell, NJ) earned a 1-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-7) win, snapping her opponent's 12-match winning streak.

The Bears return to Providence where they will open their 2006 Ivy schedule against Princeton on Friday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m.
