Women's Tennis Wins Seventh Straight

The women's tennis team defeated the University of Cincinnati on Monday afternoon in Bermuda, 6-1, earning its seventh straight win, while improving to 9-1 overall and starting the spring season, 1-0.

The Bears lost just one singles match and one doubles match and started off the contest by earning the doubles point with wins at #1 and #3. Freshman Alex Arlak combined with sophomore Victoria Beck for an 8-6 win at #1, while freshman Kerry Meath combined with junior Caroline Casey for a 9-7 win at #3.

In singles action, freshman Adriana Marianella led the way with a win at #1 (6-2, 7-6 (4)). The Bears dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision at #2, but the team won the last four singles matches for the 6-1 win.

Arlak picked up a win at #3 (6-3, 6-4), while Meath improved her singles record to 18-1 with a victory at #4 (7-5, 6-1). Casey earned her 13th singles win of the season with a victory at #5 (6-1, 6-1) and junior Olivia Wong won at #6 (6-4, 6-4) to round out the competition.

Brown, currently ranked #58 by the ITA, continues action on Wednesday, March 27, when they face Memphis as the Bears continue spring break competition in Bermuda. Brown will close out spring break competition against Alabama Birmingham on Thursday.
