The Brown women's tennis team (5-2) won its fifh straight contest, defeating UAB, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon. Junior Kerry Meath (St. Paul, MN) led the Bears, winning both her doubles and singles matches in the victory.
The Bears claimed the doubles point, winning at #1 and #2 doubles to start the match. Meath and senior Victoria Beck (Wellington, New Zealand) took a 9-8 (7-3) win at #1, while junior Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) and freshman Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) took an 8-4 win at #2.
In singles action, the Bears swept all six matches, winning four of the six in straight sets. Arlak led the way with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #1. At #2, it was Meath winning, 6-3, 6-0, while sophomore Kim Singer won at #3, 6-0, 6-1. Freshman Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) was victorious at #4, winning 6-3, 7-6 (5), while freshman Daisy Ames won at #5, 6-4, 5-7 (10-3). In the final match of the day, Pautler took a 7-5, 6-1 victory at #6 singles.
The Bears continue action on Sunday, March 21, when they travel to Boston College for a 11:00 match.
