COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Brown women's tennis team (9-2) picked up its fifth straight victory on Saturday afternoon, 6-1 over West Virginia in a neutral site match played at the University of Maryland. The Bears and the Terrapins will face each other tomorrow in a 10:00 a.m. match.
Brown had several players step up this morning, as the Bears were without the services of sophomore Bianca Aboubakare (Orange, CA) for singles action. Aboubakare has played every dual match this spring at #1 singles and her absence forced everyone in the lineup to step up to a higher position.
Freshman Cassandra Herzberg (Miami Beach, FL) won her first career dual match at #1 singles in three sets, while senior Sara Mansur (Houston, TX) posted a close win at #2 singles, earning both sets by a score of 7-6. Junior Tanja Vucetic (Aventura, FL) posted a two-set win at #3 singles. Freshman Catherine Stewart (Sewickley, PA) and junior Emily Ellis (Fort Worth, TX) picked up the other two singles wins for the Bears at #5 and #6, respectively.
