Bears Cruise Past UMass, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's tennis team (2-1) won two of three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point and never looked back, earning a 6-1 win over UMass on Wednesday afternoon at the Pizzitola Center Courts. Sophomore Ashley Pariser (Alexandria, VA) helped to lead the Bears, posting wins at #1 doubles and #2 singles.

The Bears started the day by winning the doubles point, as Pariser and sophomore Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) earned an 8-3 win at #1 and juniors Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) and Kara Zeder (Miami, FL) posted an 8-2 win at #2.

In singles action, the Bears' only defeat came at #1 and Brown was solid the rest of the way, winning #3-#6 in straight sets. Pariser's match at #2 went to a tie-breaker as she won, 6-4, 2-6, (10-8). At #3, it was freshman Sara Mansur (Houston, TX) winning, 6-4, 6-1, while freshman Brett Finkelstein (North Caldwell, NJ) earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at #4.

Zeder posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at #5, while freshman Alexa Baggio (Coopersburg, PA) earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at #6.

The Bears continue action at home this weekend when they host #38 Sacramento State at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 11th.
