Women’s Tennis Outlasts No. 43 Dartmouth, 5-2

HANOVER, N.H. – The Brown women's tennis team knocked off No. 43 Dartmouth, 5-2, on Sunday at the Boss Tennis Center. After falling in doubles, Brown won five of the six singles matches to pick up the victory. The win marks the second time this season that the Bears defeated a top-50 opponent (defeated No. 41 William & Mary).

Dartmouth opened the match winning first and second doubles to claim the point.

In singles play the Bears caught fire and picked up five wins. Junior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) recorded a 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 victory in first singles. Lord next took care of business in second singles, winning 6-2, 6-1. Junior Maddie Stearns (Short Hills, N.J.) came back from a first set loss and won her third singles match, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Freshman Devon Jack (San Marino, Calif.) registered a 6-3, 6-1 showing in the fourth spot and sophomore Taylor Cosme (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) battled to a 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 victory in sixth singles.

The Bears will next compete at Penn and Princeton on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15, respectively. Both matches will start at 2:00 p.m.
