NEW YORK – The Brown women's tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the ECAC Indoor Tennis Championships after a 4-2 upset of the No. 4 seeded Cornell Big Red on Friday. The Bears will face No. 1 seed Yale on Saturday in semifinal action at 3 p.m.
The No. 5 seeded Bears claimed victory in the first to four points match on Friday, led by a No. 1 singles win by freshman Dayna Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.). Lord defeated Dena Tanenbaum of Cornell by a 6-2, 6-3 decision before Hannah Camhi (Woodbury, N.Y.) prevailed over Marika Cusick, 6-2, 4-6, (10-6).
Ammu Mandalap (Princeton Junction, N.J.) and Ashley Noyes (Marblehead, Mass.) gave the Bears their third and fourth singles victories respectively, claiming convincing straight sets decisions over Christy Kung and Shannon Camolli.
