PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown women's tennis team (5-6) earned a 5-2 win over visiting Maryland on Thursday afternoon at the Pizzitola Center Courts. Brown dropped the doubles point, but earned wins in five of the six singles matches to take the 5-2 decision.
In doubles action, the Bears got a win at #3, where freshman Ammu Mandalap (Princeton Junction, NJ) and sophomore Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, FL) posted an 8-3 victory. Maryland narrowly won the point, earning a win at #2 due to an injury to a Brown player and then edging Brown's top team of senior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) and freshman Hannah Camhi (Syosset, NY) at #1, 9-8 (4).
Brown came out strong in singles action, winning the first four matches to clinch the victory. Krasowski won at #1, 6-3, 6-0, while Camhi posted a win at #2, 6-3, 6-0. Junior Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) won at #3 singles, 6-4, 6-4, while sophomore Sarah Kandath (Gansevoort, NY) posted a win at 4, 6-1, 6-1.
Mandalap earned Brown's fifth win with a straight-set decision at #6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Bears continue action on Wednesday, March 27th, when they travel to Miami for a 5:00 p.m. match. Brown will close out the non-league portion of its schedule on Friday, March 29th at Florida International.
