Women’s Tennis Defeats Stony Brook, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown women's tennis team (4-4) earned a 6-1 win over Stony Brook on Saturday morning at the Pizzitola Center Courts. The Bears won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point and then picked up wins at #1, #2, #4, #5 and #6 singles. Seven different Bears played in the match, as four players won in both singles and doubles.

Senior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) and freshman Hannah Camhi (Syosset, NY) combined for an 8-6 win at #1 doubles, while junior Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) teamed with sophomore Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, FL) for an 8-3 win at #2 doubles. Sophomore Sarah Kandath (Gansevoort, NY) and freshman Ammu Mandalap (Princeton Junction, NJ) rounded out the doubles point with an 8-5 win at #3.

The Bears quickly went up, 2-0, when Uberoi won her match at #4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Camhi then gave Brown a 3-0 lead, winning 6-3, 7-5, at #2 singles. Stony Brook got on the board with a victory at the number three position, but Krasowski clinched the win for Brown with a three-set decision at #1 singles (6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4. Freshman Olivia Hsu (Santa Rosa, CA) and Mandalap closed out the win with victories at #6 (7-6, (3), 6-4) and #5 (7-6 (8), 6-4), respectively.

The Bears continue action next weekend when they travel to North Carolina to face Virginia Commonwealth (at NC State) and NC State on Friday and Saturday.
