Four Bears Earn 2011 All-Ivy Honors; Krasowski a Unanimous First Team Singles Selection

PROVIDENCE, RI – Four Brown women's tennis players have earned 2011 All-Ivy honors in a vote by the League's eight head coaches. Headlining the group is sophomore Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL), who was a unanimous First Team All-Ivy honoree in singles action. Junior Cassandra Herzberg (Miami Beach, FL) earned Second Team All-Ivy honors in singles for the third straight year, while senior Bianca Aboubakare (Orange, CA) and freshman Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) were named Second Team All-Ivy in doubles action.

Krasowski posted a 3-4 Ivy League record at the #1 singles position, while finishing 18-15 in singles action overall. After playing mostly #3 last season, during which she was 23-13 in singles overall, Krasowski became a reliable #1 singles player for the Bears this year, posting a dual record of 9-8. Krasowski was also strong on the doubles court for the Bears, earning a 6-1 record at #3 doubles with classmate Julie Flanzer (Highland Park, IL) during the Ivy season.  Overall, Krasowski earned 21 doubles wins in 2010-11, which ranks eighth all-time at Brown for doubles wins in a season. After two seasons, Krasowski already has 41 career singles wins, 37 career doubles wins, and 78 career wins combined.

Herzberg, who is earning her fourth career All-Ivy honor after also getting named First Team All-Ivy (doubles) in 2009, went 6-1 in singles play during the Ivy League season, with a 5-1 record at #3 singles and a 1-0 record at #2 singles. After studying abroad during the fall season, Herzberg returned to school in January and exhibited no signs of rust, while compiling an overall singles record of 18-5, playing mostly at #3. Herzberg also went 13-9 in doubles action, including a 5-2 record at #2 doubles with freshman Ariel Caldwell (Atlanta, GA) during the Ivy season. Her 13 doubles wins with Caldwell rank 10th all-time at Brown for doubles wins in a season by a single pairing. For her career, Herzberg has posted 65 singles wins (fifth all-time at Brown), 56 doubles wins (seventh all-time at Brown), and 121 combined wins (sixth all-time at Brown).

Aboubakare and Harrow were named Second Team All-Ivy after earning a 3-4 record against teams from the Ancient Eight at the #1 position. Overall, the duo was 9-14 in doubles action, earning an 8-12 record at the #1 spot. This marks Aboubakare's sixth career All-Ivy honor, as the 2008 Ivy League Rookie of the Year was a three-time First Team All-Ivy selection in singles (2008, 2009, 2010), and a two-time First Team All-Ivy selection in doubles (2008, 2009). One of the most decorated Brown women's tennis players of all-time, Aboubakare will graduate with four Brown records, including career records for singles wins, doubles wins, and combined wins. She finished her four-year career with 97 singles wins, 79 doubles wins, and 176 combined wins. In addition, she holds the record for doubles wins in a season by a single team, earning 20 with Herzberg in 2010.

Harrow had a successful rookie season for the Bears, going 22-8 in singles action and 13-16 in doubles. She was 6-1 in Ivy play in singles action, all at #4, and was one of three Bears to post at least 20 singles wins this season, joining Caldwell and Aboubakare.
