Bears in Second After Day 1 of Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's swimming and diving team is currently in second place after the first day of competition at the Brown Invitational with a total of 250 points. Princeton leads the five-team field with 371 points, while UNH is in third with 163 points. UMass follows with 123 points, while Florida International is in fifth with 94 points.

The Bears started the day with a second place finish in the 200 Free Relay as the team of senior Elizabeth Wong (Santa Monica, CA), freshman Sarah Goodman (Philadelphia, PA), senior Ali Will (Mequon, WI), and senior Eileen Robinson (Harbour Grace, NF) swam a time of 1:37.16.

Junior Becky Kowalsky (Ft. Myers, FL) earned a third place finish in the 500 Free with a time of 5:01.01, while junior Meredith Cocco (Lafayette Hill, PA) finished fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.02. Robinson won the 50 Free with a time of 23.72, while Wong took fifth in the event with a time of 24.42.

The Brown team of junior Emily Brush (Duxbury, MA), sophomore Aly Wyatt (Ypsilanti, MI), Wong, and Robinson finished the day with a second place finish in the 400 Medley Relay, clocking in with a time of 3:54. 24.

The Bears continue action tomorrow, December 3, with the following events: 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 800 Free Relay. Prelims begin at 11:00 a.m. with the finals slated for 7:00 p.m.
