PROVIDENCE, RI - The women's swimming and diving team (4-3) defeated Yale, 172-122 in its final regular season meet of the year. The Bears won nine of the 14 events in their final preparation before the Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships, which begin February 27th.
Brown started the day by taking first in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:46. 45. In the next event, the 1000 free, the Bears earned a 1-2 sweep as junior Jean Lee (Valrico, FL) touched the wall first in 10:16.98. Freshman Bridgette Cahill (Turnersville, NJ) grabbed second place with a time of 10:19.80.
Brown enjoyed a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 back with sophomore Jessica Brown (Royalston, MA) winning in a time of 58.51, junior Lindsay Hoban grabbing second in 58.56, and sophomore Mariana Chuck (Kingston, Jamaica) taking third in 58.63.
Senior Laura Mosca (Charlottesville, VA) won the 100 breast for the Bears in a time of 1:05.81, while classmate Inbal Hasbani (Wilmette, IL) took third in a time of 1:09.23. Cahill took second in the 50 free in a time of 46.73, the first event on the day that Brown didn't win. Junior Emily McCoy (Anchorage, AK) took third in that event in a time of 47.42, while freshman Eileen Robinson (Harbour Grace, NF) grabbed fourth in a time of 47.54.
The Bears swept 1-4 in the 100 free, as Daniels won in a time of 51.68, Oeser took second in a time of 52.97, freshman Ali Will (Mequon, WI) bragged third in a time of 53.02, while McCoy took fourth in a time of 53.41.
Hoban took home first in the 200 back (2:06.30), while Brown grabbed third in a time of 2:09.82. Mosca grabbed second in the 200 breast (2:22.89), while Lee won the 500 free (5:04.09). Finishing off the day, sophomore Alexis Skoda (Bernardsville, NJ) finished in second place in the 200 IM (2:09.12), while Brown won the 800 free relay in a time of 7:48.26).
Brown continues action on Thursday, February 27, 2003, the first day of the Ivy League Championships, which will be held at Princeton this year from the 27th-March 1st.
