The Brown women's swim team dropped a close match to Yale 155-145 on Friday afternoon. Leading the Bears was senior Liz Daniels (Pittsburgh,PA) who placed first in both the 100-yard backstroke and 50-yard free. She also helped lead the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard free relay team to first place finishes.
The Bears started off the day winning the first event, the 200-yard medley relay behind performances by Daniels, sophomore Elisabeth Wong (Santa Monica,CA), freshman Karlyanna Kopra (Kamuela, HI), and senior Emily McCoy(Anchorage, AK).
Brown took top finishes in the 200-yard freestyle with senior Toni Pullman (Shrewsbury, MA) swimming to a first place finish and McCoy finishing third. In the following event, Daniels finished first in the 100-yard freestyle 10 seconds ahead of the competition. The Bears took a 1-2 finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with Kopra and freshman Julia Lippe-Klein (Palo Alto, CA) edging out Yale in the event.
The Bears took another 1-2 finish in the 50-yard freestyle with Daniels and sophomore Eileen Robinson (Harbour Grace, NF) leading the pack. Brown took a 1st and 3rd finish in the 100-yard freestyle with McCoy taking first and freshman Katie Schlesinger (Houston, TX) finishing third.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Brown took a 2-3 finish with senior Lindsey Hoban (Duxbury, MA) and freshman Emily Brush (Duxbury, MA). In the following event, junior Alexis Skoda (Bernardsville,NJ) finished 2nd in the 200-yard breastroke for the Bears.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Brown's senior Jean Lee (Valrico, FR) took a 2nd place finish.
The Bears continued to dominate the relay event's placing first in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the last event of the day.
In the diving competition, Brown finished in the 2-3 spots in the 1-meter and 3-4 in the 3-meter.
The Bears will return to action when they compete in the Ivy Championships beginning February 26 at Harvard.
