Bears Fall to Columbia, 194-106

NEW YORK, NY - The Brown women's swimming and diving team (1-4, 1-4) dropped a 194-106 decision to Columbia on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Natascha Mangan (Keizer, OR) won the 200 fly for the second week in a row, while Stephanie Pollard (Victoria, BC) picked up a victory in the 200 IM to lead Brown.
The meet started with the 3-meter diving event, in which junior Jessica Williams (McLean, VA) took third with a score of 233.78. The Bears took third in the next event as well, with the 200 medley relay team of freshman Sage Erskine (Arlington, VA), senior Aly Wyatt (Ypsilanti, MI), senior Lauren Zatorski (Winnetka, IL), and freshman Candice Sisouvanvieng-Kim (Albuquerque, NM) earning a time of 1:51.04.
Junior Ainsley McFadgen (Glace Bay, NS) led Brown in the 1000 free, earning third with a time of 10:28.72, while Pollard posted a time of 1:56.34 in the 200 free to finish in second place. Junior Sarah Goodman (Philadelphia, PA) posted a time of 1:00.38 in the 100 back to lead Brown in that event, finishing in third.
Wyatt led the Bears in the 100 breast, posting a time of 1:09.31, good for second, while Mangan followed with Brown's first win, posting a time of 2:06.76 in the 200 fly. Sisouvanvieng-Kim clocked in at 24.74 in the 50 free to finish in second place.
In a break from swimming, senior Jacquelyn Rudis (North Andover, MA) led the Bears on the 1-meter dive, scoring a 216.98 to finish in third place.
Sisouvanvieng-Kim and Pollard earned two top-three finishes in the 100 free, as Brown had two in the top three for the first time during the meet. Sisouvanvieng-Kim earned second with a time of 53.93, while Pollard grabbed third with a time of 54.17. Erskine posted a time of 2:10.20 to claim third in the 200 back, while sophomore Bailey Langner (Martinez, CA) earned second place in the 200 breast with a time of 2:28.22. Wyatt claimed third place in the event, posting a time of 2.28.90.
McFadgen earned second place in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:08.06, while Mangan and Zatorski picked up second and third in the 100 fly, with times of 57.78 and 1:00.73, respectively.
Pollard won the final individual event of the afternoon, posting a time of 2:10.74 in the 200 IM, while Langner earned second with a time of 2:11.48. Wyatt finished in third, clocking in at 2:12.03.
The Bears closed the meet with a second and third place finish in the 400 free relay as the team of Sisouvanvieng-Kim, sophomore Susannah Ford (Cambridge, MA), Goodman, and Pollard swam a time of 3:39.10 and the team of Erskine, Zatorski, McFadgen, and freshman Katherine Wargo (Killingworth, CT) earned a time of 3:42.27.
