ITHACA, NY - The Brown women's swimming and diving team (5-3, 4-2) earned a sweep over Ivy opponents Columbia and Cornell, winning 169-129 over Columbia and 191-107 over Cornell. Brown won nine of the 16 events en route to the win.
The Bears started the meet off with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay, as the team of senior Jessica Brown (Orange, MA), freshman Alexandra Wyatt (Ypsilanti, MI), junior Elizabeth Wong (Santa Monica, CA), and junior Eileen Robinson (Harbour Grace, NF) teamed up for a win n 1:49.43.
Sophomore Becky Kowalsky (Ft. Myers, FL) earned a first place finish in the 200 free, clocking in a 1:54.50, while Wyatt earned a first place finish in the 100 breast, with a time of 1:07.51. Sophomore Ashley Wallace (Chatham, NJ) led a 1-2 sweep in the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.61. She was followed by junior Katey Mirch (Reno, NV), who clocked in at 2:09.88. Robinson took first in both the 50 and the 100 free, clocking in at 24.38 in the 50 and at 53.35 in the 100. Sophomore Emily Brush (Duxbury, MA) led a 1-2 sweep in the 200 back, with a time of 2:07.19, while Brown took second with a 2:08.72.
Wong led the way in the 100 fly, winning with a time of 58.37, while sophomore Meredith Cocco (Lafayette Hill, PA) led a 1-2 sweep in the 200 IM. Cocco won with a time of 2:10.57, while sophomore Lauren Harlow (Andover, MA) took second with a time of 2:12.11.
The Bears continue action this Friday when they conclude the dual meet season against Yale in a 5:00 meet at Brown's Smith Swim Center.
