CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown women's swimming and diving team (2-2, 2-2) dropped a 199.5-99.5 decision to Harvard on Saturday afternoon at Blodgett Pool. The Bears were led by four different swimmers, sophomore Candice Sisouvanvieng-Kim (Albuquerque, NM), freshman Allyson Schumacher (Des Moines, WA), freshman Kristen Caldarella (Orwigsburg, PA), and sophomore Kelley Wisinger (Warren, NJ), who each won one event on the day.
Brown took fourth place in the first two events, as the 200 Medley Relay team of senior Sarah Goodman (Philadelphia, PA), freshman Samantha Williams (Nashville, TN), sophomore Natascha Mangan (Keizer, OR), and Sisouvanvieng-Kim posted a time of 1:52.53. Senior Ainsley McFadgen (Glace Bay, NS) then posted a time of 10:16.52 to finish fourth in the 1000 Free.
Schumacher picked up Brown's first victory of the day, earning a time of 1:52.09 in the 200 Free, while junior Bridget Ballard (Los Angeles, CA) led the Bears in the 100 Back, earning second place with a time of 59.80. Sophomore Sage Erskine (Arlington, VA) was third in the event with a time of 1:00.23.
The Bears also took second and third in the next event, as freshman Jamie Firth (Felton, CA) posted a time of 1:09.72 to earn second in the 100 Breast, while Williams was third with a time of 1:11.60. Mangan led Brown in the 200 Fly, finishing with a time of 2:06.78 to earn second place.
Sisouvanvieng-Kim then posted a time of 24.21 in the 50 Free to pick up Brown's second victory of the day.
Senior Jessica Williams (McLean, VA) placed third in the 3-Meter Dive to lead the Bears in that event, scoring a 253.27, while Caldarella picked up Brown's third win of the day in the 100 Free, swimming a time of 53.36. Wisinger followed with Brown's fourth victory, swimming a time of 2:07.44 to lead a 1-2 sweep in the 200 Back. Erskine was second with a time of 2:09.76.
Firth was Brown's top finisher in the 200 Breast, posting a time of 2:34.30 to earn third place, while McFadgen placed third in the 500 Free with a time of 5:03.60. Mangan earned third as Brown's top finisher in the 100 Fly, posting a time of 58.86.
Brown was led on the 1-Meter Dive by junior Katie Olko (Harrison, NY), who scored a 246.82. Wisinger took fourth in the final individual swimming event, clocking in at 2:11.93 in the 200 IM, while the 200 Free Relay team of Sisouvanvieng-Kim, Caldarella, junior Susannah Ford (Cambridge, MA), and Schumacher closed the meet with a second place finish, touching the wall in 1:39.02.
The Bears continue action next Saturday, January 31, when they travel to New York, NY to face Columbia at 12:00 noon.
