Katie Haron joined the Brown swimming and diving staff as a volunteer assistant coach in the fall of 2012. Haron, a native of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, returns to the Ocean State after spending the past five years in Tempe, Arizona, bringing with her a wealth of swimming experience and knowledge.
A 2011 graduate of Arizona State University, Haron spent the past year working as the head coach of the high school training group and the assistant Age Group coach for Sun Devil Aquatics, a nationally ranked swim club. She was a four-year member of the women’s varsity swimming and diving team, and earned a letter for her performances during each season. Haron received All-American honors in 2011 after competing for the Sun Devils at the NCAA Championship meet, and was also a member of the school record breaking 200 medley relay team and the recipient of the 2011 Mona Plummer Award.
A kinesiology and pre-medicine major, Haron was named to both the Dean’s List and the Pac-10 All-Academic Team for three consecutive years. A registered EMT, she is an active volunteer, formerly working in the emergency room of Phoenix Children’s hospital and devoting her time and energy to a variety of other causes. She is currently enrolled in the Masters of Public Health program at Brown with an expected graduation date of 2014.
