Women’s Swimming & Diving in Second at Big Al Invite Following Day Two

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown women's swimming & diving team is in second place following action at Day Two of the Big Al Invitational at DeNunzio Pool on Saturday. The Bears have 531 points and trail host Princeton (608).

The night opened with a 200 medley relay team of freshman Taylor Seaman (Brighton, Mich.), senior Ally Donahue (Tampa, Fla.), sophomore Jessie Blake-West (Belmont, Mass.) and junior Maddie Salesky (San Rafael, Calif.) placing second with a time of 1:41.63.

Next, sophomore Sarah Welch (Beverly, Mass.) was the Bears' top finisher in the 400 IM, finishing 11th overall (4:26.08).

Blake-West turned in a 10th place showing in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.23, which is second-best all-time at Brown. Freshman Han Nguyen (Los Gatos, Calif.) and freshman Claudia Wong (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished along with Blake-West in the B-Final, in 55.62 and 55.74, respectively.

Seaman finished third in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.56 while junior Tatiana Prendella (Bernardsville, N.J.) also placed with a time of 1:50.47, good for sixth. Sophomore Marley Cross (Seattle, Wash.) won the B-Final in 1:48.23 (third best at Brown) for ninth place and sophomore Amelia Gilchrist (Greensboro, N.C.) was right behind her in 10th (1:50.21).

Donahue finished seventh (1:04.00) in the 100 breaststroke. Welch came in fifth in the 100 backstroke (56:01) while Gilchrist (56.35) and Seaman (56.75) went 7-8 in the A-Final.

In diving, Freshman Marisa Agarwal (Palo Alto, Calif.) finished sixth in the 3M with a score of 229.25.

To close out the night's finals, Cross, senior Sarah Cronin (Westfield, N.J.), Prendella and junior Jackie Karpowicz (Wakefield, R.I.) won the 800 freestyle relay in 7:18.24.

The Bears are back in action tomorrow (Dec. 3) for the final day of the Big Al Invitational, starting at 9:00 a.m.
