Donahue Captures Second Individual Crown as Women’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Fifth at Ivy Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown women's swimming & diving team finished fifth with 709.5 points in the Ivy League Championships at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool on Saturday. The finish was the team's highest result since 2005 when the team was third. Harvard captured the championship with 1,500.5 points and Yale came in second with 1,422.5 points.

For the second straight day, sophomore Ally Donahue (Tampa, Fla.) captured an individual title, this time in the 200 yard breaststroke with an NCAA B and school record time of 2:12.18. 

At the conclusion of the meet, senior Rachel Speakman (Hudson, Ohio) was named Ron Keenhold Career High Point Diver. To earn the honor, Speakman scored the most points over her career than any other class of 2016 diver (118 points). In the night's action, Speakman placed 16th in the 3-meter dive with a mark of 224.80.

A team of sophomore Aja Grande (Honolulu, Hawaii), sophomore Sarah Cronin (Westfield, N.J.), freshman Maddie Salesky (San Rafael, Calif.) and senior Reia Tong (Bethesda, Md.) closed out the meet with a strong third place in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:20.70.

In the B-Final of the 100 yard freestyle, Cronin finished 11th with a time of 50.59 and Salesky touched in at 51.09 for 16th.

Junior Katie Roach (Colorado Springs, Colo.) came in 13th in the B-Final of the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.21.

Senior Gina Matsumoto (Farmington Hills, Mich.) came in at 11th in the B-Final of the 200 yard butterfly (2:00.95). Junior Caroline Vexler (Moreland Hills, Ohio) placed 13th in the same event, with a time of 2:01.36.
