Women's Swimming and Diving Falls to Harvard, 202-98

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown women's swimming and diving team dropped its first contest of the season, a 202-98 defeat at the hands of Harvard on Saturday.

 

Senior Briana Borgolini (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) was Brown's lone double event winner on Saturday as she took home titles in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.62) before securing the win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a mark of 2:21.12.

 

Sophomore Gina Matsumoto (Farmington Hills, Mich.) tallied a win in the 200-yard butterfly, outlasting Harvard's Danielle Schulkin with a time of 2:04.86.

 

Reia Tong (Bethesda, Md.), Emma Lamothe (Brimfield, Mass.), Megan Nolet (Saratoga, Calif.), and Paige Gilley (Cupertino, Calif.) grabbed victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.94).

 

Gilley found success in the 100-yard backstroke event, claiming a second place finish (58.42) while teammate Emma Wyke (Columbus, Ind.) finished third in the event with a time of 59.44.

 

The Bears travel to Philadelphia next Saturday to battle Ivy League foe, Penn, at Sheerr Pool beginning at 12 p.m.
