Brown Jumps Into 2010-11 Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown swimming and diving teams open their seasons today as both the men's and women's squads are in action this weekend at Providence College. The women's team competes today at 5 p.m. while the men take to the pool tomorrow at 11 a.m. The Bears will match up against on Providence College and Bryant in an all-Rhode Island meet.

Brown is coming off a strong offseason and impressive scrimmage against Boston College on Halloween. The Bears took numerous events in the tune-up, including the men's and women's 400 medley relays, women's 800 free relay.

Individual performances included Ellen Downing's win in the 500 free (5:13.26),  Seth Akers-Campbell"s victory in the 500 free (4:51.55), Libby Matthews' first-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:14.19) and Ryan Kikuchi's W in the 200 individually medley (1:58.01).

After this weekend's meet the Bears will return to the pool on Nov. 20th when they host Dartmouth.
