Brown Swimming and Diving Hosts End of Year Awards Banquet
Providence, RI - The annual Brown Swimming and Diving awards banquet was held at Hotel Providence on Saturday, April 17th. This was the first year that both the men's and women's teams were celebrated together in one banquet. The accomplishments of the past season were recognized along with ten individual award winners from 2009-10.

Kristin Jackson '13 and Katie Olko '10 Achieve Milestones at League Championships
Providence, R.I. - A pair of Brown student-athletes achieved notable milestones at the Ivy League Championships over the weekend, as rookie swimmer Kristin Jackson (Falmouth, ME) broke a 22-year old school record in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.40, and senior diver Katie Olko (Harrison, N.Y.) was named the Career High Point Diver at the Meet.

Brown Takes Seventh at Ivy League Championship
Cambridge, MA - The women's swimming and diving squad wrapped up competition at the Ivy League Championships at Harvard on Saturday evening, finishing seventh overall with a total of 601.5 points for the three-day event. Princeton University won the Ivy League championship with 1465 points, the 17th title in program history for the Tigers.

Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams Honored by CSCAA
Providence, R.I. - The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced that both the Brown men's and women's swimming and diving squads had earned recognition as Scholar All-American Teams for the 2009 fall semester. To attain this award, a team must have a minimum 3.0 GPA for the semester.

Caldarella, Jackson Combine for Five Wins, But Brown Falls to Cornell 160-135
In their final dual competition before heading to the Ivy League Championships at the end of the month, the Brown women's swimming and diving squad (2-8, 1-6 Ivy) hit the road to Ithaca, New York, where they fell to Cornell (3-6, 2-5 Ivy) by a final margin of 160-135. Rookie Kristen Jackson and sophomore Kristen Caldarella led the way for the Bears, winning five events between them, but it wasn't enough to hold off the depth of the Big Red.

Bears Wrap Up Home Schedule With 107-191 Loss to Yale
The Brown women's swimming and diving squad finished up their home season on Wednesday afternoon at UMass Dartmouth, losing to the visiting Bulldogs by a final margin of 107-191. The day was highlighted for the Bears by a win in the 400 free relay, as the team of Kristen Caldarella, Liz Stein, Samantha Williams, and Allyson Schumacher crossed the line in 3:34.48 to pick up the victory.

Columbia Edges Brown, 156-144
In their first meet of the season at their adopted home pool on the UMass-Dartmouth campus, the Bears came up just short against Columbia, dropping a 156-144 meet against the Lions that went down to the final events. Junior Natascha Mangan (Keizer, OR) led the way for Bruno, winning two individual events and swimming as part of a victorious relay.

Harvard Knocks off Brown Swimmers
The Crimson turned in an impressive performance on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Brown in their annual dual meet to take a 177-66 win over the Bears. A number of Brown swimmers turned in second place finishes, but it wasn't enough to overcome the depth of Harvard.

Boston University Women Swim to Victory Over Brown
The Bears resumed their season after returning north from Miami on Saturday afternoon, traveling to take on Boston University and coming away with a tough loss, as the Terriers won by a 204-96 margin. Rookie Kristin Jackson led the Bears, taking an individual first and second, as well as competing as part of a second-place relay team.

Penn Edges Bears by 171-110 Margin
The Brown women's swim team dropped a tough meet against Penn on Tuesday afternoon, coming away with a 171-110 loss after competing against the Quakers in North Miami, where the teams are training during the holiday break. Freshman Kristin Jackson (Falmouth, ME) led the Bears with three first place finishes, while senior Bridget Ballard (Los Angeles, CA) added a pair of golds for Bruno.

Bears Take Third at Bucknell Invitational
The Brown women took an impressive third place finish in their final meet before the holiday break, competing at the Bucknell Invitational over the weekend and racking up 1134.5 points to take the bronze in a highly competitive seven-team field. Among the teams that the Bears knocked off were Ivy rival Columbia and perennial power Syracuse University, while just Princeton and Bucknell finished in front of Bruno.

Bears Dominate Dartmouth in Second Meet of Season
The Brown women's swimming and diving squad knocked off the Dartmouth Big Green by an impressive 203.50-96.50 margin over the weekend, winning every swim event to even their record at 1-1. The Bears were led by sophomore Allyson Schumacher (Des Moines, WA), who won three individual events and was a part of another winning relay.

Brown Swims to Second Against UConn and Laval
The women’s swim team opened the 2009-10 season over the weekend, falling to Connecticut 193-106, but taking a dominating win over Laval, winning by a final margin of 193-93. Despite competing against a Husky team that had the benefit of already swimming several meets, the women looked strong, particularly junior Candice Sisouvanvieng-Kim, who took a pair of seconds in the 50 and 100 free.

Swimming and Diving Announces Class of 2013
Head Coach Peter Brown recently announced the addition of 18 newcomers to the swimming and diving squads, with nine women and nine men set to join the Bears in 2009-2010. The impressive list includes two All-Americans, four members of All-State teams, and the Maine Swimmer of the Year.
