Providence, RI - Brown's women's squash team, ranked ninth nationally, posted its first victory of the season with a thrilling 6-3 victory over tenth-ranked Cornell Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The Bears played well throughout the line-up, with senior Megan Cerullo posting a hard-fought 9-4, 9-7, 10-8 win at number one against Jenn Gemmell, one of Canada's top players. Also winning for the Bears were junior Breck Haynes, 3-1, at number four; freshman Sophie Scherl, 3-0, at number six; sophomore Kali Schellenbery, 3-1, at number seven; freshman Lily Cohen, 3-0, at number eight; and sophomore Sarah Roberts, 3-0, at number nine.
The Bears will be back in action again on Tuesday, January 22, hosting Mt. Holyoke at 12:00 p.m. and Amherst at 2:00 p.m.
