Providence, RI - Junior Brown softball player Michelle Moses (Cooper City, FL) has been selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America softball team by the members of the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA). Moses was named to the University Division Third Team, and is the only Ivy League student-athlete on the First, Second or Third team.
A Commerce, Organizations & Entrepreneurship concentrator with a 4.0 GPA, Moses was Brown's strongest pitcher with a 6-12 record and a 2.46 ERA. She appeared in 24 games, and started in 15. She ended the 2008 season ranking fourth in the Ivy League in strikeouts (113) in 102.1 innings pitched, and was sixth in opponent batting average.
Last summer, Moses pitched for the Maccabi USA Softball Team, compiling a 3-0 record, including one save. In 19 innings pitched, Moses gave up just four hits, one unearned run, two walks and had 26 strikeouts with an ERA of 0.00. Moses received the win during USA's 6-0 defeat over Argentina for the gold medal, and received the "Best Pitcher" award.
