Providence, RI - Brown junior Michelle Moses (Cooper City, FL) has been named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District in softball. The team is selected by voting members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
A Commerce, Organizations & Entrepreneurship concentrator, with a 4.0 GPA, Moses was Brown's strongest pitcher with a 6-12 record and a 2.46 ERA. She appeared in 24 games, and started in 15. Moses ended the 2008 season ranking fourth in the Ivy League in strikeouts (113) in 102.1 innings pitched, and was sixth in opponent batting average.
This past summer, Moses pitched for the Maccabi USA Softball Team, compiling a 3-0 record, including one save. In 19 innings pitched, Moses gave up just four hits, one unearned run, two walks and had 26 strikeouts with an ERA of 0.00. Moses received the win during USA's 6-0 defeat over Argentina for the gold medal, and received the "Best Pitcher" award.
